Allana

Ahmedabad, India

Allana transforms a compact footprint into a flexible, light-filled home that feels far larger than its size suggests. Conceived as a highly personal retreat, the design responds to the client’s wish for openness and fluid movement while maintaining a sense of warmth and intimacy.

Spatial Flow

The planning works with subtle changes in floor level to define distinct zones without the need for heavy furniture or partitions. These level shifts create seating nooks, reading corners, and casual conversation areas while keeping the circulation free and uncluttered. Natural light becomes a central material — streaming in from carefully placed openings to wash across textured walls and highlight the interplay of planes.

Tactile Simplicity

Material choices are kept minimal and tactile. Soft plaster finishes and warm wood tones are complemented by neutral fabrics, allowing daylight to animate the surfaces throughout the day. In a space where every square metre matters, built-in storage and integrated seating further enhance functionality.

The design subtly responds to its urban surroundings by filtering exterior conditions through screened openings and layered thresholds. These transitions soften the shift between outdoors and indoors, ensuring privacy while drawing in soft daylight and ventilation. Allana ultimately illustrates how a thoughtful, context-aware design can elevate a small footprint into a calm, generous living experience.
