Lakshyadeep

Ahmedabad, India

Lakshyadeep is conceived as an institutional retreat for learning, contemplation, and community exchange. Surrounded by open land and mature trees, the campus layout embraces the natural topography, using gentle terraces and shaded courts to create a sequence of indoor–outdoor experiences.

Vernacular Roots

The design draws on vernacular principles—deep overhangs, ventilated corridors, and earthy materials—while integrating modern construction methods for durability and efficiency. Classrooms and seminar halls are oriented to capture prevailing breezes, reducing dependence on mechanical cooling and keeping the interiors comfortable throughout the year.

Community Core

A central gathering plaza serves as the heart of the campus, linking administrative, academic, and residential wings. This shared space encourages dialogue among students, educators, and visitors, reinforcing the institution’s role as a place of collective growth.

Textural Warmth

Textures of stone, brick, and wood create a warm, tactile environment that feels both rooted and contemporary. Water features and native planting enhance microclimatic comfort, while rooftop solar installations highlight the project’s commitment to sustainability.

Outdoor classrooms, garden pathways, and shaded seating clusters turn the campus landscape into an active learning environment. These spaces encourage informal discussions, hands-on exploration, and quiet study, ensuring that education extends naturally beyond enclosed rooms.
